CALID is one of the largest NGOs operating in the northern region. Our programmes cover 9 districts in the northern region namely; Tamale, Savelugu-Nanton, Karaga, Gusheigu, Tolon, Kumbungu, Bole, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Sagnarigu districts. CALID’s programmes focus on Education, Health, Governance and Livelihood.
Brief history of CALID
CALID was formed in 2001 by a group of community development workers formerly with Action Aid Ghana (AAIG). Marginalization of the northern region resulted in rampant poverty, illiteracy and general ignorance. An urgent need to turn around the situation through strategic programmes and activities to arrest the situation necessitated the formation of CALID.
